FAQ

What is in the Power/Bloc kit?

The appropriate length Power/Bloc channel, stoploc bars (usually a combination of "hook" and "T"), bar holder(s) and yellow product safety label.  Details for specific kits are provided in the Products section.  Installation adhesive and adhesive mixing tubes are provided in appropriate quantity for a typical installation of the number of kits ordered at no additional charge (orders over $500.00).

Will Power/Bloc fit my panels?

Power/Bloc is designed to be a universal product.  We have provided solutions for facilities constructed in the early 1900's and often provide customized solutions for special applications.  Contact us for additional assistance.

How do I know what to order?

Since there are variations in different models and manufacturers and the precision of the stamped material, measurements are often helpful.  The appropriate length Power/Bloc channel should cover the full capacity of the panel, distance from the top of the top breaker to the bottom of the bottom breaker.  A single Power/Bloc channel will be used for panels with a center area width of 3" or less; two vertical Power/Bloc channels are required for a center width of 3" or greater.  Useable depth of the panel (dead front to door) is critical.  The HIGH PROFILE kit will be used in panels with a useable depth of 3/4" or greater; the LOW PROFILE kit will be used in panels with a useable panel depth of less than 3/4".  If the center of the panel has a ridge (wide or narrow), that will decrease the useable depth or may interfere with mounting of the Power/Bloc channel and must be considered.  If a "V notch" is present in the center of the panel, that is also important to consider.  Click here for a PowerPoint presentation covering measurement instructions.

Some frequently used panel examples:

GTE/ITE/SIEMENS:  42 circuit - LP or HP     30 circuit - LP or HP 09

SQUARE D:  42 circuit - LP or HP 09     30 circuit - LP or HP 07

CROUSE HINDS:  D2PB-24  HP09     D2PB-12  HP05

How is the Power/Bloc system installed?

No penetrating fasteners are used.  The Power/Bloc channel and stoploc bar holders are installed with an industrial adhesive (two part acrylic product rated at greater than 1,000 lbs.).  We use this product (3M DP 805) for it's short working time and strenth rating.  (This particular formulation is also frequently used in automotive and aviation applications.)

Do I need to remove the panel cover/dead front to install the Power/Bloc system? No.  The adhesive is applied with an adhesive gun and mixing tube that allows a bead of adhesive to be easily applied to the Power/Bloc channel and bar holders.
